The Line He Drew

Opening Message – “The Line He Drew”

Inspired by Jeremiah 5:22 (ESV)

“Do you not fear me? declares the Lord. Do you not tremble before me? I placed the sand as the boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass; though the waves toss, they cannot prevail; though they roar, they cannot pass over it.”

This one got me. I mean, I’ve read some powerful scriptures, but this time, something stopped me. It wasn’t just what God said, it was what He meant. I pictured the ocean stretching for miles, stormy or still, powerful and endless, and yet God said, “You stop here.” And it does.

That’s the God I serve. The One who draws a line with nothing but His word. The One who sets boundaries that cannot be broken. That image, waves crashing but never crossing, hit different. It reminded me that God’s power is not only in what He moves, but in what He holds back. Sometimes we forget how much is being held back by the grace and will of God.

This issue may be short, but I couldn’t keep this to myself. If you ever needed a reminder of God’s greatness, look no further than the line He drew in the sand. And know this, if He can hold back the sea, He can hold your life together too.

Faith in Action

Before you go on with your day, pause. Step outside. Breathe in. Breathe out.

Look up and notice the sky. Look down and see the ground holding firm beneath you. Listen to the rhythm of creation, the breeze, the birds, the gentle limits placed on the waves.

Now ask yourself this:

If the sea stops where He tells it to…why do I keep pushing past His voice?

Let this moment anchor your heart. God’s boundaries aren’t a prison, they’re proof of His power and His presence. Everything He created listens. So today, choose to listen too.

Closing Thought

God’s fingerprints are all over creation.

His authority is not loud, but it’s lasting.

The waves still stop at the line.

So maybe we need to return to the awe that stops us too,

not in fear that pushes us away,

but in reverence that draws us near.
